Description

This Apple Pie Puff Pastry Bake combines the best of both worlds: the comforting flavors of a classic apple pie and the light, flaky texture of puff pastry. A perfect dessert that's easy to prepare and utterly delicious.

Ingredients

1 package puff pastry (2 sheets)

3 medium apples, peeled and sliced

1/4 cup brown sugar

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 tablespoon butter, melted

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Roll out one sheet of puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut it into a rectangle to fit a baking sheet.
  3. In a bowl, combine the sliced apples, brown sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cornstarch. Toss to coat the apples evenly.
  4. Arrange the apple mixture in the center of the puff pastry, leaving a border around the edges.
  5. Fold the edges of the pastry over the apples, forming a rustic edge.
  6. Brush the exposed edges of the puff pastry with the beaten egg.
  7. Drizzle the melted butter over the apples for extra richness.
  8. Place the pastry on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed.
  9. Let it cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar, if desired. Slice and serve warm!

Notes

For a richer flavor, caramelize the apples with butter and brown sugar before placing them in the pastry.

Add chopped walnuts or pecans for a bit of crunch.

Sprinkle cinnamon sugar over the puff pastry for a spiced crust.

For a vegan version, swap butter for plant-based butter and use a non-dairy egg wash alternative like almond milk.

Leftovers can be stored at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerated for up to 5 days.

Freeze the assembled pastry before baking and cook from frozen, adding 5-10 extra minutes to the baking time.
