Description

This Baked Brie in Puff Pastry with Honey, Fig, and Prosciutto combines sweet and savory flavors, with creamy Brie, golden puff pastry, honey, figs, and prosciutto in an irresistible appetizer.

Ingredients

1 wheel of Brie cheese (8 oz)

1 sheet puff pastry, thawed

4-5 figs, sliced

2 oz prosciutto, thinly sliced

2 tablespoons honey

1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves (optional)

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

1 tablespoon all-purpose flour (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Lightly dust a clean surface with flour and unfold the puff pastry sheet.
  3. Place the Brie wheel in the center of the puff pastry.
  4. Lay slices of prosciutto around the Brie, making sure it covers the cheese.
  5. Arrange the sliced figs on top of the prosciutto, then drizzle with honey.
  6. Fold the puff pastry edges over the Brie and filling, gently pressing to seal it into a parcel.
  7. Brush the top of the pastry with the beaten egg to give it a golden, glossy finish.
  8. Place the wrapped Brie on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed up.
  9. Remove from the oven and let it cool for 5 minutes before serving.
  10. Optional: Sprinkle fresh thyme leaves over the baked Brie for an extra touch of flavor.

Notes

For a crunch, add chopped walnuts or pecans on top of the figs.

You can substitute fresh figs with dried figs or apricots.

Fresh rosemary or sage can replace thyme for a different herbal flavor.

Swap prosciutto with crispy bacon bits for a stronger savory taste.
