Description

Soft, chewy, and bursting with flavor, these Banana Bread Chocolate Chip Cookies are a delicious twist on a classic treat. The comforting taste of banana bread pairs perfectly with the indulgence of semi-sweet chocolate chips, making these cookies a delightful snack or dessert that’s hard to resist.

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1/4 cup brown sugar, packed

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 large ripe banana, mashed

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional, for added flavor)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon (if using). Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add the mashed banana, egg, and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and beat until fully incorporated.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until combined.
  6. Stir in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  7. Using a tablespoon or cookie scoop, drop spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the centers are set.
  9. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For a richer flavor, you can add lemon zest to the batter.

These cookies store wonderfully in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3-4 days.

If you want to store them longer, freeze them for up to 2 months.

To reheat, pop them in the microwave for a few seconds to restore their soft, chewy texture.
