Description

Soft and moist banana chocolate chip bars made with ripe bananas and melty chocolate chips for a perfect dessert or snack.


Ingredients

2 ripe bananas, mashed

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup chocolate chips


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease or line an 8x8-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together the mashed bananas, butter, and brown sugar until smooth and fully combined.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract, stirring until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips gently.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly with a spatula.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Try adding chopped walnuts or pecans for extra crunch.

For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate chips.

For a vegan version, replace the egg with a flaxseed egg and use dairy-free butter.

Add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg for a spiced twist.
