Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
1 small onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 cup tomato sauce
1/4 cup water
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
4 large flour tortillas
1/4 cup sour cream (optional)
1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro (optional)
1/2 cup refried beans (optional)
1/4 cup diced tomatoes (optional)
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
- Add the diced onion and minced garlic, cooking for another 2-3 minutes until softened.
- Stir in the chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper, mixing well.
- Pour in the tomato sauce and water, stirring to combine, and let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes until it thickens.
- Warm the flour tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave until pliable.
- If using refried beans, spread a thin layer on each tortilla.
- Spoon the beef mixture onto the center of each tortilla, then top with shredded cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses.
- Optionally, add sour cream, diced tomatoes, and chopped cilantro.
- Fold the sides of the tortilla inward, then roll it tightly to form a burrito.
- Heat a dry skillet over medium heat and place each burrito seam-side down, cooking for 1-2 minutes until golden brown. Flip and cook the other side until crispy.
- Serve warm with salsa, guacamole, or extra sour cream on the side.
Notes
Vegetarian Option: Substitute the ground beef with black beans or grilled veggies.
Spicy Version: Add diced jalapeño or a few dashes of hot sauce to the beef mixture.
Cheese Lovers: Feel free to add more cheese, like pepper jack, for extra flavor.
