Description

A warm, comforting side dish with a golden, buttery crust, gooey cheese, and fragrant garlic herbs. Perfect with pasta, soups, or as a standalone snack.


Ingredients

1 loaf French bread (or Italian bread)

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon dried parsley

1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice the loaf of bread in half lengthwise and place both halves on a baking sheet, cut side up.
  3. In a small bowl, mix softened butter, minced garlic, dried parsley, dried oregano, and salt until smooth.
  4. Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the bread halves.
  5. Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses over the top.
  6. Bake for 10–12 minutes, until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and the edges are golden brown.
  7. Remove from oven, garnish with fresh chopped parsley, slice, and serve immediately.

Notes

Add a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.

Use provolone or cheddar for an extra cheesy version.

Replace dried herbs with fresh herbs for brighter flavor.

Use whole wheat bread and reduced-fat cheese for a lighter option.

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.

Reheat in oven at 350°F (175°C) for 5–7 minutes or in an air fryer at 350°F for 3–4 minutes.
