Description
A rich and creamy Cajun butter sauce bursting with bold spices, perfect for drizzling over seafood, chicken, or roasted vegetables to add a flavorful Southern kick.
Ingredients
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
1 tablespoon lemon juice
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Once melted, whisk in the Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper until well combined.
- Cook the mixture gently for 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently, to allow the spices to infuse the butter without burning.
- Remove from heat and stir in the lemon juice. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- Optionally, stir in fresh parsley for a pop of color and freshness.
- Serve warm over grilled or baked seafood, chicken, vegetables, or use as a dipping sauce.
Notes
This sauce is versatile and can be used on seafood, chicken, vegetables, or as a dip.
For a dairy-free version, substitute butter with vegan margarine or coconut oil.
Adjust cayenne pepper to control the heat level.
To store, keep in an airtight container in the fridge up to 3 days; reheat gently.
For a creamier version, add 1 tablespoon heavy cream at the end.
Try adding a splash of white wine or dried thyme for variation.
A hint of honey can balance the sauce’s heat with subtle sweetness.
