Description

These Caramel Crush Bars are the perfect combination of rich, buttery goodness and sweet caramel flavor. With a crunchy topping and gooey caramel center, these bars are sure to satisfy any sweet tooth.

Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup brown sugar

2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup rolled oats

1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk

1/2 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)

1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9x9-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the flour, baking soda, salt, and vanilla extract, and stir until combined.
  4. Mix in the oats until the dough forms a crumbly texture.
  5. Press two-thirds of the dough mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking dish to form the crust.
  6. In a small saucepan, heat the sweetened condensed milk and caramel sauce over medium heat. Stir constantly until the mixture is smooth and heated through.
  7. Pour the caramel mixture evenly over the crust.
  8. Crumble the remaining dough mixture over the top of the caramel layer.
  9. Sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the top.
  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the center is set.
  11. Let the bars cool completely before cutting into squares.

Notes

If you prefer a richer caramel taste, try using homemade caramel sauce instead of store-bought.

Add a pinch of sea salt on top to enhance the sweetness of the caramel.

These bars can be made ahead of time and stored for up to 2 months in the freezer.

To reheat, microwave for 10-15 seconds or enjoy at room temperature.
