Ingredients
12 oz bowtie (farfalle) pasta
1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breast, cubed
2 tablespoons olive oil
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
Salt and pepper, to taste
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup chicken broth
1 cup heavy cream
1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
- Cook the bowtie pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add cubed chicken to the skillet and season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Cook for 5–7 minutes until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium and melt the butter.
- Add minced garlic and sauté for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
- Sprinkle in the flour and whisk constantly for about 1 minute to form a roux.
- Slowly pour in the chicken broth and heavy cream, whisking continuously to avoid lumps.
- Stir in mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. Simmer for 3–5 minutes until the sauce thickens and becomes creamy.
- Return the cooked chicken and pasta to the skillet. Toss everything to coat well with the sauce.
- Garnish with chopped parsley and red pepper flakes if desired. Serve warm.
Notes
Swap chicken with Italian sausage or shrimp for variation.
Add spinach or sun-dried tomatoes for extra texture and color.
Use different pasta shapes like penne or rotini if bowtie pasta is unavailable.
