Description
A rich and creamy seafood casserole made with shrimp and crab meat, topped with a cheesy sauce and crispy breadcrumbs for a decadent and comforting meal.
Ingredients
1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 lb crab meat, shredded
2 cups heavy cream
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon paprika
Salt and pepper to taste
2 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the shrimp and sauté for 3-4 minutes, or until they turn pink. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set them aside.
- In the same skillet, add the crab meat and sauté for 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
- In a separate saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat. Add the Parmesan cheese, cheddar cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.
- In a baking dish, layer the shrimp and crab mixture. Pour the cheesy sauce evenly over the seafood.
- Sprinkle breadcrumbs on top for a crispy finish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
- Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
Notes
Frozen seafood works well in this recipe as long as it's thawed before cooking.
You can prepare the casserole up to 24 hours in advance and refrigerate it.
For a spicy version, add cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes to the sauce.
If you want a vegetarian option, substitute the seafood with a mix of vegetables like mushrooms, spinach, and artichokes.
For a different flavor, swap the cheddar cheese for Gruyère or Monterey Jack.
