Description

A rich and creamy chocolate sour cream frosting with a perfect balance of smooth chocolatey goodness and a tangy twist, ideal for cakes, cupcakes, and brownies.

Ingredients

1 cup sour cream

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

2 cups powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 cup milk (or more if needed)

Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the sour cream and cocoa powder until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  2. Gradually add in the powdered sugar, stirring it in until it’s fully incorporated and smooth.
  3. Add the vanilla extract, milk, and a pinch of salt, stirring until smooth. Adjust the milk to reach your desired frosting consistency.
  4. Taste the frosting and adjust the sweetness or cocoa if needed.
  5. Spread the frosting over your favorite cake, cupcakes, or brownies. Enjoy!

Notes

If the frosting becomes too stiff after chilling, add a splash of milk and stir to loosen it up.

This frosting can be frozen for up to 3 months. Thaw in the fridge overnight before using.

Adjust the consistency by adding more powdered sugar for thickness or more milk for a thinner frosting.

For variations, you can try adding hazelnut spread, peanut butter, mint extract, or spices like cayenne or cinnamon.
