Description
Cinnamon Sugar French Toast Roll-Ups are crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and coated in a sweet cinnamon-sugar mixture. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a comforting homemade snack served warm from the pan.
Ingredients
8 slices sandwich bread (crust removed)
4 oz (115g) cream cheese or Nutella (optional)
1/2 cup sugar
1 tbsp cinnamon
2 eggs
1/4 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tbsp butter (for cooking)
Instructions
- Flatten each slice of bread with a rolling pin until thin and flexible.
- If using filling, spread a thin layer of cream cheese or Nutella evenly over each slice.
- Roll up each slice tightly and place seam-side down.
- In a shallow dish, mix the sugar and cinnamon together.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Dip each roll-up into the egg mixture, coating all sides evenly.
- Heat butter in a pan over medium heat. Place roll-ups seam-side down and cook, turning occasionally, until golden brown on all sides.
- While still warm, roll each piece in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated. Serve immediately.
Notes
Use flavored cream cheese, peanut butter, or fruit preserves for different flavor variations.
Add a pinch of nutmeg to the cinnamon sugar for extra warmth.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Reheat in a skillet over low heat or in a 350°F (175°C) oven for 5–7 minutes to maintain crispiness.
Freeze cooked roll-ups in a freezer-safe container and reheat in the oven.
Soft sandwich bread works best, but slightly stale bread absorbs the egg mixture well.
