Description
This Creamy Garlic Chicken recipe features tender, golden-brown chicken breasts simmered in a rich, velvety garlic sauce. Perfect for a quick and flavorful weeknight meal, this dish is a family favorite that pairs beautifully with mashed potatoes, pasta, or steamed vegetables.
Ingredients
2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons butter, divided
1 whole garlic bulb (about 8-9 cloves), peeled
1 cup chicken broth
3/4 cup heavy cream
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Slice the chicken breasts in half lengthwise to create thinner cutlets. Season both sides with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Dredge each piece in flour, shaking off the excess.
- Heat olive oil and 1 tablespoon butter over medium-high heat in a large skillet. Add chicken and cook for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove chicken from skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the remaining butter and garlic cloves. Sauté for 2 minutes until softened and fragrant.
- Add chicken broth, scraping up browned bits from the skillet. Stir in garlic powder and simmer for 2-3 minutes.
- Reduce heat to medium-low, add heavy cream, and stir. Return the chicken to the skillet and spoon sauce over each piece. Simmer for 5 more minutes to thicken the sauce.
- Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper, garnish with chopped parsley, and serve.
Notes
Add mushrooms for extra heartiness.
Spice it up by adding red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper.
For a low-carb version, skip the flour and pair the chicken with veggies or cauliflower mash.
