Ingredients
For the Filling:
1 tbsp sesame oil (or vegetable oil)
½ lb ground pork, chicken, or turkey
2 cups shredded cabbage
1 carrot, julienned
2 green onions, sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp grated ginger
½ tsp black pepper
1 tsp sriracha (optional, for spice)
For Wrapping & Baking:
12 egg roll wrappers
1 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water (to seal the rolls)
1 tbsp vegetable oil (for brushing)
Instructions
- Prepare the Filling: Heat sesame oil in a pan over medium heat. Add ground meat and cook until browned. Stir in garlic, ginger, soy sauce, cabbage, carrots, and black pepper. Cook for 3-5 minutes until vegetables soften. Remove from heat and mix in green onions. Let cool slightly.
- Assemble the Egg Rolls: Lay an egg roll wrapper diagonally on a clean surface. Place about 2 tbsp of the filling in the center. Fold the bottom corner over the filling, fold in the sides, and roll tightly. Seal with cornstarch-water mixture.
- Bake the Egg Rolls: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange egg rolls seam-side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Brush with vegetable oil. Bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
- Serve: Enjoy with sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, or sriracha mayo for dipping.
Notes
Customization: Add mushrooms, swap proteins (shrimp, tofu, or beef), or spice up with more sriracha or chili flakes.
Storage: Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days, and reheat in the oven or air fryer for crispiness. Uncooked rolls can be frozen for longer storage.
