Description
These deep-fried strawberry cheesecake stuffed wonton bites offer a crispy exterior with a creamy, fruity filling, perfect as a dessert or party appetizer.
Ingredients
20 wonton wrappers
4 oz (½ cup) cream cheese, softened
2 tablespoons powdered sugar
¼ cup finely chopped fresh strawberries
Oil for frying (vegetable or canola oil)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and chopped strawberries until smooth and well combined.
- Lay one wonton wrapper flat on a clean surface. Spoon about 1 teaspoon of the cream cheese mixture into the center.
- Moisten the edges of the wonton wrapper with water using your finger or a brush. Fold into a triangle or pouch shape and press edges firmly to seal.
- Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling.
- Heat about 2 inches of oil in a deep skillet or pot over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- Fry wonton bites in batches, turning occasionally, until golden brown and crispy, about 2 to 3 minutes.
- Remove fried bites with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Serve warm, optionally dusted with powdered sugar or with strawberry sauce for dipping.
Notes
Seal edges tightly to prevent leaking during frying.
Can prepare ahead and refrigerate before frying.
Frozen strawberries can be used if thawed and drained.
Baking is an option but yields less crispy results.
Store leftovers in airtight container in refrigerator up to 2 days; reheat in oven for best texture.
