These crispy and tender chicken tenders are coated in a sweet and savory honey butter garlic sauce, made effortlessly in the air fryer for a healthier twist on a classic dish.
Ingredients
1 lb chicken tenders
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon paprika
Salt and pepper to taste
1 egg, beaten
1 cup panko breadcrumbs
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
2 tablespoons honey
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon lemon juice
Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
- In a shallow bowl, combine the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- In a separate bowl, beat the egg.
- Place the panko breadcrumbs in another shallow bowl.
- Dredge each chicken tender in the flour mixture, then dip it into the beaten egg, and coat it in the panko breadcrumbs.
- Arrange the coated chicken tenders in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Lightly spray with cooking spray.
- Air fry the chicken tenders at 400°F (200°C) for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
- While the chicken cooks, prepare the honey butter garlic sauce by melting the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add the honey, garlic, and lemon juice, and cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly.
- Once the chicken tenders are cooked, drizzle the honey butter garlic sauce over the tenders and toss gently to coat.
- Garnish with fresh parsley, if desired, and serve immediately.
Notes
For a gluten-free option, swap the all-purpose flour and panko breadcrumbs with a gluten-free alternative.
If you prefer a tangy twist, replace the lemon juice with lime juice in the sauce.
Leftover tenders can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days and reheated in the air fryer or oven.
