Description

Doritos Taco Salad is a fun, flavorful, and easy-to-make dish combining seasoned ground beef, crisp lettuce, fresh veggies, and crunchy Nacho Cheese Doritos—perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or party.

Ingredients

1 lb (450g) ground beef (or ground turkey)

1 packet taco seasoning (or homemade)

1 head romaine or iceberg lettuce, chopped

12 cups crushed Nacho Cheese Doritos

1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved

1 cup shredded cheddar or Mexican blend cheese

1/2 cup black beans or corn (optional)

1/2 red onion, diced

Sliced jalapeños, avocado, or olives (optional)

Dressing: 1/2 cup ranch or Catalina dressing

Optional: a squeeze of lime or hot sauce in the dressing

Instructions

  1. Cook the beef: Brown the ground meat in a skillet over medium heat. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Stir in the taco seasoning and a splash of water. Let simmer until saucy and flavorful.
  3. Build the salad base: In a large bowl, toss together chopped lettuce, cherry tomatoes, diced onion, shredded cheese, and black beans or corn if using.
  4. Add optional extras like jalapeños or avocado if desired.
  5. Let the cooked beef cool slightly, then add it to the salad.
  6. Sprinkle crushed Doritos on top last to keep them crisp.
  7. Drizzle ranch or Catalina dressing over the salad just before serving and toss gently to coat evenly without crushing the chips.

Notes

Make it vegetarian by substituting beef with seasoned black beans or lentils.

Try different Doritos flavors like Cool Ranch or Spicy Nacho for variation.

Add sour cream or guacamole for extra creaminess.

For meal prep, store beef, chips, and dressing separately to avoid sogginess.

Store cooked beef and veggies in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days; keep Doritos sealed at room temperature.

Reheat beef gently before adding to salad.

Check seasoning and chip packaging for gluten-free certification if needed.

Swap beef for leaner meats and use lighter dressings for a healthier option.
