Ingredients
4 cups fresh peaches, peeled and sliced (or canned peaches, drained)
1 cup granulated sugar, divided
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup milk
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- In a medium bowl, toss the sliced peaches with 1/2 cup of sugar and the cinnamon, if using. Set aside.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, remaining 1/2 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Stir in the milk until the batter is smooth, then mix in the melted butter until fully combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish.
- Without stirring, spoon the peaches and their juices evenly over the batter.
- Bake for 40–45 minutes, until the top is golden brown and the fruit is bubbling.
- Serve warm, optionally with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
Notes
You can use fresh, canned, or thawed frozen peaches.
Brown sugar can be used instead of white for a caramel flavor.
Add vanilla extract or nutmeg for extra depth.
Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 4 days.
Reheat in the oven to maintain crisp topping.
