Description

French Onion Beef and Noodles is the ultimate comfort food, featuring tender beef, egg noodles, and a rich French onion-inspired sauce that’s perfect for cozy evenings. With caramelized onions and creamy flavors, this dish is both simple and satisfying.

Ingredients

1 lb beef stew meat or flank steak, cut into small pieces

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 large onion, thinly sliced

3 cloves garlic, minced

2 cups beef broth

1/2 cup French onion dip or soup mix

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 teaspoon dried thyme

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 teaspoon salt

8 oz egg noodles

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the beef and cook for 5-7 minutes, until browned on all sides. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, add the sliced onion and sauté for 7-8 minutes, or until the onions are softened and caramelized.
  3. Add the garlic and cook for another minute, stirring frequently.
  4. Return the beef to the skillet and stir in the beef broth, French onion dip (or soup mix), soy sauce, thyme, pepper, and salt. Bring to a simmer and cook for 10-12 minutes, or until the beef is tender and the sauce has thickened.
  5. While the beef and sauce are simmering, cook the egg noodles according to package instructions, then drain and set aside.
  6. Stir the cooked noodles into the beef and onion mixture. Toss until the noodles are well coated with the sauce.
  7. Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

Vegetarian Option: Replace beef with mushrooms or tempeh for a vegetarian version.

Cheese Variation: Swap Parmesan for cheddar or Gruyère for a different flavor.

Herb Variation: Try rosemary or oregano for a unique flavor twist.

Storage: Can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.

Reheating: Reheat on the stove with a splash of beef broth or water to loosen the sauce.
