Description
A creamy, rich French Onion Dip made with caramelized onions, Greek yogurt, and mayonnaise. It's a healthier homemade version, perfect for parties and snacking.
Ingredients
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 large yellow onions, thinly sliced
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 cups plain Greek yogurt
1/2 cup mayonnaise
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add sliced onions, salt, and pepper. Cook slowly, stirring occasionally, for 30 to 35 minutes until caramelized and deep golden brown.
- Remove skillet from heat and let onions cool completely.
- In a medium bowl, mix Greek yogurt, mayonnaise, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce.
- Stir in the cooled caramelized onions until fully combined.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow flavors to develop.
- Serve chilled with chips, vegetables, or crackers.
Notes
Sour cream can be used instead of Greek yogurt for a richer texture.
Add smoked paprika or hot sauce for a smoky or spicy twist.
Mix in fresh chives or parsley for color and freshness.
To make it vegan, use plant-based yogurt and mayo alternatives.
Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
Do not freeze; texture may change and become watery.
