Description

Grandma’s Pistachio Dessert is a nostalgic treat combining creamy pistachio pudding, a buttery graham cracker crust, and a fluffy whipped topping. This layered dessert is easy to prepare and perfect for any family gathering or holiday celebration.

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened

1 cup powdered sugar

1 (8 oz) container of whipped topping (like Cool Whip)

1 (3.4 oz) box instant pistachio pudding mix

2 cups milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, and granulated sugar. Stir until well mixed.
  3. Press the graham cracker mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish to form the crust. Bake for 8-10 minutes. Let it cool completely.
  4. In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy.
  5. Fold in the whipped topping until fully incorporated.
  6. Once the crust has cooled, spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the top.
  7. In another bowl, whisk together the pistachio pudding mix and milk until the pudding thickens (about 2-3 minutes).
  8. Pour the pistachio pudding mixture over the cream cheese layer and spread evenly.
  9. Chill the dessert in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours, or overnight for the best results.
  10. Before serving, garnish with additional whipped topping or crushed pistachios, if desired.

Notes

Can substitute the graham cracker crust with crushed Oreos or another cookie for a different flavor.

For a richer dessert, add a layer of melted chocolate chips or toffee bits between the cream cheese and pistachio layers.

For a nut-free version, use a different pudding flavor like vanilla or chocolate instead of pistachio.

Add almond extract to the cream cheese mixture for an extra depth of flavor.

Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.
