Description

Festive mini sugar cookie cups with soft, buttery centers and lightly golden edges, filled with creamy vanilla frosting and topped with colorful holiday sprinkles for a cheerful, crowd-pleasing dessert.

Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

1 large egg

1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 tub (16 oz) vanilla frosting

1/2 cup holiday sprinkles or candy decorations

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 24-cup mini muffin pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until fully combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until a soft dough forms.
  6. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place one ball into each mini muffin cup.
  7. Bake for 10–12 minutes, until the edges are lightly golden.
  8. Immediately press the center of each cookie with the back of a spoon to create a cup shape.
  9. Cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Fill each cooled cookie cup with vanilla frosting and top with holiday sprinkles or candy decorations.

Notes

Dough can be prepared up to 24 hours in advance and refrigerated; let sit at room temperature before rolling.

Unfrosted cookie cups can be frozen for up to 2 months and thawed before decorating.

Press centers immediately after baking while cookies are still soft to prevent cracking.

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to 5 days.

Allow refrigerated cookie cups to sit at room temperature for 20–30 minutes before serving.

Frosting flavors can be customized, such as chocolate, cream cheese, or peppermint.
