Ingredients
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
Salt and pepper, to taste
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons olive oil
3 tablespoons soy sauce
1/3 cup honey
4 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons rice vinegar
1 teaspoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
2 tablespoons water (optional, for cornstarch slurry)
Sesame seeds and chopped green onions, for garnish
Instructions
- Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides.
- Dredge each chicken breast in flour, shaking off any excess.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, cook the chicken breasts for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, sauté the minced garlic for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- In a bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, and rice vinegar, then add this mixture to the skillet, stirring to combine.
- For a thicker sauce, mix cornstarch with water to create a slurry and add it to the skillet. Stir until the sauce thickens.
- Return the chicken breasts to the skillet and spoon the sauce over them. Simmer for an additional 3-4 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions before serving.
Notes
To make this recipe gluten-free, use gluten-free soy sauce and skip the flour, opting for cornstarch to coat the chicken.
If you like a spicy kick, add red pepper flakes or a dash of sriracha to the sauce.
For extra crispy chicken, coat the chicken breasts in a flour and breadcrumb mixture before cooking.
