Oven-Baked Cajun Butter Shrimp is a quick, flavorful seafood dish combining succulent shrimp with a spiced Cajun butter sauce. It's a perfect option for a fast weeknight dinner or an appetizer.
Ingredients
1 lb (450 g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
½ teaspoon dried oregano
½ teaspoon dried thyme
½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, thyme, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
- Add the shrimp to the bowl and toss them to coat each piece evenly in the seasoning-butter mixture.
- Arrange the shrimp in a single layer in the prepared baking dish, pouring any remaining butter mixture over the top.
- Bake for 8–10 minutes, or until the shrimp are pink and opaque, flipping halfway through for even cooking.
- Remove the shrimp from the oven and drizzle with fresh lemon juice. Garnish with chopped parsley, if desired.
- Serve immediately with crusty bread, rice, pasta, or a crisp green salad.
Notes
For a spicier version, increase the cayenne pepper or add a dash of hot sauce to the butter mixture.
For a lemony touch, add extra lemon zest and fresh thyme to the seasoning mix.
For more garlic flavor, increase garlic powder and add minced fresh garlic cloves.
Vegetables such as bell peppers, onions, or zucchini can be added to the baking dish for a one-pan meal.
Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in the oven or microwave.
