Description

These Parmesan Onion Rings are crispy, flavorful, and incredibly easy to make with just a few ingredients. A delicious twist on the classic onion ring, they’re perfect as a snack or appetizer.

Ingredients

2 large onions, sliced into rings

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon paprika

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

2 large eggs, beaten

1/2 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko)

Olive oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Begin by slicing the onions into 1/2-inch rings and separate them.
  2. In a shallow bowl, mix together the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  3. In another shallow bowl, beat the eggs.
  4. In a third shallow bowl, combine the grated Parmesan cheese and breadcrumbs, mixing well.
  5. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Ensure there’s enough oil to cover the bottom of the pan.
  6. Coat each onion ring in the seasoned flour mixture, then dip it into the beaten eggs, and finally coat it with the Parmesan-breadcrumb mixture. Press gently to make sure the coating sticks.
  7. Fry the coated onion rings in batches, cooking for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden and crispy.
  8. Once crispy, remove the onion rings from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  9. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

For a spicier twist, add cayenne pepper to the flour mixture.

Try substituting the Parmesan cheese with a combination of cheddar or mozzarella for a cheesy variation.

Add dried herbs like oregano or thyme to the breadcrumb mixture for an aromatic flavor.

Bake in the oven at 400°F (200°C) for a healthier version.
