Description

These peanut butter chocolate chip bars are rich, chewy, and the perfect treat for satisfying sweet cravings. With creamy peanut butter and semi-sweet chocolate chips, they make the ultimate dessert for any occasion.

Ingredients

1 cup creamy peanut butter

½ cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup brown sugar, packed

½ cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking powder

¼ tsp salt

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving a slight overhang for easy removal later.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the peanut butter and softened butter until smooth and well-combined.
  3. Add the brown sugar and granulated sugar, then beat until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, beating after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in ¾ cup of chocolate chips, reserving the remaining ¼ cup for topping.
  7. Spread the batter into the prepared pan, smoothing the top with a spatula. Sprinkle the remaining ¼ cup of chocolate chips evenly over the surface.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are set and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  9. Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack. Once cooled, use the parchment overhang to lift the bars out and cut them into 16 squares.

Notes

Crunchy peanut butter can be substituted for creamy peanut butter for a different texture.

Check the bars by inserting a toothpick into the center; if it comes out with moist crumbs, they are done.

Experiment with additional mix-ins like chopped peanuts, walnuts, or toffee bits.

If using a larger pan, check for doneness earlier, as the bars may bake faster in a 9x13-inch pan.

For longer storage, keep the bars in the fridge where they last up to a week.
