Description

These Strawberry Cream Cheese French Toast Roll-Ups are a sweet and indulgent breakfast or brunch treat. Soft bread filled with strawberry cream cheese, coated in cinnamon sugar, and pan-fried to golden perfection.

Ingredients

12 slices white sandwich bread, crusts trimmed

1/2 cup cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup strawberry preserves

2 eggs

1/3 cup milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Butter, for frying

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix together the cream cheese and strawberry preserves until smooth.
  2. Flatten the bread slices using a rolling pin to make them easier to roll.
  3. Spread a thin layer of the strawberry cream cheese mixture on each slice of bread. Roll up the bread tightly to enclose the filling.
  4. In a shallow dish, whisk together the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract.
  5. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and melt some butter. Dip each roll-up in the egg mixture, ensuring it’s well coated. Fry the roll-ups, turning occasionally, until golden brown on all sides.
  6. Mix the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon in a shallow dish. Roll the hot roll-ups in the cinnamon sugar mixture until well coated.
  7. Serve the roll-ups warm, optionally with extra strawberry preserves or fresh strawberries on the side for dipping or topping.

Notes

For a variation, try using different fruit preserves like raspberry or blueberry.

To bake, place the roll-ups on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake at 375°F for 10-12 minutes, turning halfway through.

If making ahead, store assembled roll-ups in the refrigerator for up to a day before cooking.
