Description

This Stuffed Cabbage Roll Casserole is a comforting, hearty dish that combines the rich flavors of ground beef, tender cabbage, savory rice, and a delicious tomato-beef broth sauce. It's an easy, one-pan meal that’s perfect for family dinners and great for leftovers. Enjoy this cozy casserole with minimal prep time and maximum flavor!

Ingredients

2 pounds ground beef

3 ½ pounds chopped cabbage

1 (29 ounce) can tomato sauce

1 cup chopped onion

1 cup uncooked white rice

1 teaspoon salt

2 (14 ounce) cans beef broth

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned, breaking it up as it cooks.

  3. Add the chopped onions to the skillet and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the onions are soft.

  4. Stir in the uncooked rice and salt, mixing everything together thoroughly.

  5. In a large baking dish, layer half of the chopped cabbage on the bottom.

  6. Spread half of the beef mixture over the cabbage, then layer the remaining cabbage and beef mixture.

  7. Pour the tomato sauce and beef broth evenly over the layers, ensuring the casserole is well covered.

  8. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 1 ½ to 2 hours, or until the rice is cooked through and the cabbage is tender.

  9. Once done, remove the foil and let the casserole sit for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

For a spicy kick, add red pepper flakes or hot sauce to the tomato sauce.

Try using turkey or pork for a lighter version.

For a vegetarian option, swap the beef for lentils.
