Description

A cool, creamy traditional Greek tzatziki made with thick yogurt, fresh cucumber, garlic, and dill. This refreshing dip is perfect for serving with pita, grilled meats, or vegetables.

Ingredients

1 cup full-fat Greek yogurt

1 medium cucumber, grated and drained

2 cloves garlic, finely minced or grated

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 teaspoon white lemon juice

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill (optional)

Instructions

  1. Grate the cucumber and squeeze out as much moisture as possible using a cheesecloth or clean kitchen towel.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the drained cucumber with the Greek yogurt.
  3. Add the minced garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and chopped dill if using.
  4. Stir thoroughly until smooth and well combined.
  5. Cover and refrigerate for about 30 minutes to allow the flavors to blend.
  6. Serve chilled, optionally drizzled with a little olive oil on top.

Notes

For a thicker dip, strain the yogurt before mixing.

Add extra dill or substitute with mint for a different flavor profile.

Adjust lemon juice for more tang if desired.

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Stir before serving as cucumber may release moisture over time.
