Description

A quick and comforting Turkish-inspired pasta dish with savory spiced beef, tangy yogurt sauce, and a rich paprika butter drizzle, ready in just 20 minutes.

Ingredients

12 oz pasta (penne or rigatoni)

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 lb ground beef or lamb

1 teaspoon cumin

1 teaspoon ground coriander

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

Salt and black pepper to taste

1 cup plain Greek yogurt

1 small clove garlic, grated (for yogurt sauce)

2 tablespoons butter

1 teaspoon sweet paprika

1 tablespoon tomato paste

Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté for 3-4 minutes until softened.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  4. Add the ground beef or lamb and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon.
  5. Stir in cumin, coriander, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  6. In a small bowl, mix Greek yogurt with the grated garlic clove and a pinch of salt to make the yogurt sauce.
  7. In a separate small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in sweet paprika and tomato paste. Cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  8. Toss the cooked pasta with the spiced beef mixture.
  9. Plate the pasta and top with dollops of yogurt sauce.
  10. Drizzle the paprika butter over the top and garnish with chopped parsley.

Notes

Use ground lamb for a richer flavor variation.

For a vegetarian version, substitute beef with mushrooms or lentils.

Add chili flakes or cayenne for extra heat.

Use dairy-free yogurt to make it lactose-free.

Stir in greens like spinach or kale for added nutrition.
