Phyllo Rolls with Ground Beef

Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1 onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon ground cumin

1 teaspoon paprika

½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

Salt and pepper to taste

1 tablespoon olive oil

10-12 sheets of phyllo dough

2 tablespoons butter, melted

Fresh parsley, chopped (optional for garnish)

(Tip: You'll find the full list of ingredients and measurements in the recipe card below.)

Directions

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, sautéing for 2-3 minutes, until softened.

Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and fully cooked, about 6-8 minutes.

Stir in the cumin, paprika, cinnamon, salt, and pepper. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the spices to blend with the beef.

Remove the skillet from heat and let the beef mixture cool slightly.

Lay one sheet of phyllo dough on a clean surface, brushing it lightly with melted butter. Layer another sheet on top and brush with more butter. Repeat with 3-4 sheets to create a sturdy base.

Spoon a portion of the ground beef mixture along one edge of the phyllo dough, then roll it tightly into a log, sealing the ends by folding them inward.

Place the rolled phyllo on a baking sheet and brush the top with additional melted butter.

Repeat the process with the remaining phyllo sheets and beef mixture.

Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the phyllo is golden brown and crispy.

Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before slicing into individual rolls. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

Variations

Vegetarian Option: Replace the ground beef with lentils or mushrooms for a plant-based version. The spices will still give it that rich flavor, and the phyllo dough will provide the same crispy texture.

Cheese Addition: For an extra layer of flavor, try adding crumbled feta or shredded cheese to the beef mixture.

Spicy Kick: If you like spice, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or some chopped chili to the beef mixture for an extra kick.

Storage/Reheating

Storage: Store leftover phyllo rolls in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.

Reheating: Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10-15 minutes or until crispy and heated through. You can also reheat them in an air fryer for a few minutes to restore the crunch.
