Baked Caesar Chicken with a Creamy Parmesan Sauce

Ingredients

(Tip: You'll find the full list of ingredients and measurements in the recipe card below.)

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

1 cup Caesar dressing

½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

¼ cup sour cream

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon dried oregano

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Directions

I preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

I arrange the chicken breasts in a baking dish.

In a bowl, I whisk together the Caesar dressing, Parmesan cheese, sour cream, minced garlic, dried oregano, salt, and pepper.

I pour the creamy sauce over the chicken breasts, making sure they’re fully coated.

I cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 25–30 minutes.

After that, I remove the foil and bake for another 10–15 minutes, until the chicken is fully cooked and the sauce is bubbling.

I finish it off with a sprinkle of chopped parsley before serving.

Variations

I sometimes swap the sour cream for Greek yogurt for a tangier flavor and a bit of extra protein.

For a crunchy twist, I’ve topped the dish with crushed croutons or breadcrumbs before the final bake.

If I’m out of Caesar dressing, I mix mayo, lemon juice, anchovy paste, Dijon, and garlic for a quick homemade version.

I’ve also added spinach or sliced mushrooms into the baking dish for a veggie boost.

When I want a spicier version, I add red pepper flakes to the sauce mixture.

Storage/Reheating

I store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. To reheat, I place the chicken in a baking dish, cover it with foil, and warm it in a 325°F (160°C) oven until heated through. Microwaving works too—just cover it and heat in short intervals to avoid drying out the chicken.

FAQs

What kind of Caesar dressing should I use?

I prefer using a creamy, full-fat Caesar dressing for the richest flavor, but a lighter version can work if I want to cut calories.

Can I use chicken thighs instead of breasts?

Yes, I’ve made it with boneless, skinless thighs, and they turn out juicy and flavorful—just adjust the cook time slightly since thighs may take longer.

Is this dish freezer-friendly?

I don’t recommend freezing the dish once it’s cooked because the creamy sauce can separate. However, I’ve frozen the uncooked chicken with the sauce in a sealed bag, then thawed and baked it fresh.

Can I make this recipe ahead of time?

Absolutely. I often assemble the dish earlier in the day and keep it in the fridge until I’m ready to bake it.

What can I serve with this chicken?

I usually serve it with roasted veggies, a simple salad, or mashed potatoes. The sauce is so good, I like something that’ll soak it up—like rice or crusty bread.

Conclusion

Baked Caesar Chicken with Creamy Parmesan Sauce is one of those recipes I keep coming back to. It’s comforting, flavorful, and surprisingly easy to pull together with just a few ingredients. Whether I’m feeding my family on a busy weeknight or hosting dinner guests, this recipe never fails to impress.
