Description

An elegant and effortless Italian dessert, Affogato al Caffè features hot espresso poured over creamy vanilla gelato, delivering a luxurious contrast of temperatures and flavors in just minutes.


Ingredients

2 scoops vanilla gelato (or high-quality vanilla ice cream)

1 shot (1 oz) freshly brewed hot espresso

Optional: chocolate shavings, cocoa powder, biscotti, or liqueur (like Amaretto or Kahlúa)


Instructions

  1. Place two small serving glasses or espresso cups in the freezer for about 10 minutes to chill.
  2. Add one generous scoop of vanilla gelato into each chilled glass.
  3. Brew a fresh shot of hot espresso.
  4. Pour the hot espresso directly over the gelato in each glass.
  5. Serve immediately, optionally garnished with chocolate shavings, a dusting of cocoa powder, or a biscotti on the side.
  6. For an adult twist, optionally add a splash of liqueur before pouring the espresso.
