Description

A warm and comforting apple crumble made with tender cinnamon-spiced apples and topped with a buttery, golden oat crumble. This easy, classic dessert is perfect for family dinners, holidays, or whenever you crave something cozy and homemade.

Ingredients

56 medium apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and sliced

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 tsp ground cinnamon (divided)

1 tbsp lemon juice

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

3/4 cup rolled oats

1/2 cup brown sugar (or white sugar)

1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease an 8x8-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, toss sliced apples with granulated sugar, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, lemon juice, and vanilla extract until evenly coated. Spread into the prepared baking dish.
  3. In another bowl, combine flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, remaining 1/2 tsp cinnamon, and cold cubed butter. Use a pastry cutter or fingers to mix until the texture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the apples.
  5. Bake for 35–40 minutes, until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender and bubbling.
  6. Allow to cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream if desired.

Notes

Mix tart and sweet apples for balanced flavor.

Add chopped pecans or walnuts for extra crunch.

For gluten-free version, substitute flour with almond flour or gluten-free blend and use certified gluten-free oats.

Add a pinch of nutmeg or drizzle caramel on top for deeper flavor.

Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

Reheat in oven at 325°F (160°C) for 10–15 minutes or microwave individual portions for 30–60 seconds.

Freeze baked crumble for up to 2 months and thaw overnight before reheating.
