A show-stopping centerpiece for any holiday spread, these Festive Christmas Tree Spinach Dip Breadsticks are as tasty as they are festive. I get to enjoy warm, cheesy spinach dip stuffed inside golden pull-apart breadsticks, all shaped into a charming Christmas tree. Whether it’s for a party, family gathering, or cozy night in, this holiday appetizer is a guaranteed hit.

Festive Christmas Tree Spinach Dip Breadsticks

Ingredients

(Tip: You'll find the full list of ingredients and measurements in the recipe card below.)

12 oz frozen chopped spinach, thawed and squeezed dry

6 oz cream cheese, softened

2 cloves garlic, minced

½ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon onion powder

¼ teaspoon chili powder

¼ teaspoon pepper

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 cup grated mozzarella cheese

1 tube refrigerated pizza crust (~13.8 oz)

Butter Topping:

2 tablespoon butter

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

½ teaspoon garlic powder or garlic salt

Directions

I preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

In a mixing bowl, I beat together the thawed and squeezed-dry spinach with softened cream cheese until smooth.

I stir in the garlic, salt, onion powder, chili powder, pepper, Italian seasoning, Parmesan, and mozzarella until creamy and fully combined.

I unroll the pizza crust onto parchment paper and cut out one large triangle and two smaller ones. I use the smaller pieces to form a second full-sized triangle.

I spread the spinach mixture over one of the triangles, then place the other on top, pressing down lightly.

Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, I slice 1-inch wide strips on both sides of the triangle, making sure to leave the center intact.

I twist each strip to form branches, shaping the tree.

I bake it for 30–35 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.

While it bakes, I melt the butter and stir in the Italian seasoning and garlic powder. Once the breadsticks come out of the oven, I brush the seasoned butter over the warm top.

Variations

I like switching things up with this recipe depending on what I have on hand. Sometimes I add a pinch of red pepper flakes for a bit more heat or stir in chopped artichokes for extra richness. Swapping mozzarella for sharp white cheddar gives it a stronger cheese flavor, and I’ve even used crescent dough instead of pizza crust when I wanted something a bit flakier.

Storage/Reheating

If I have leftovers, I store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. To reheat, I place the breadsticks on a baking sheet and warm them in the oven at 300°F for about 10 minutes. The microwave works in a pinch, but I find the oven keeps the crust crispier.

FAQs

How do I keep the dough from getting soggy?

I make sure to squeeze out as much moisture as possible from the spinach before mixing it with the cream cheese. Excess liquid is usually the culprit behind soggy dough.

Can I make this ahead of time?

Yes, I assemble the tree up to a day in advance and keep it covered in the fridge. When I’m ready, I bake it straight from the fridge — just adding a couple of extra minutes to the baking time.

What can I serve with this appetizer?

I like serving it with marinara sauce or ranch dressing for dipping. It’s also great on its own, but the extra dip adds a nice touch.

Can I freeze it?

I can freeze the unbaked, assembled tree for up to one month. I just wrap it well in plastic and foil. When ready, I bake it from frozen at 325°F until heated through and golden.

Can I make it gluten-free?

Yes, if I use gluten-free pizza dough, it works just as well. I also double-check that the cheeses and seasonings are gluten-free.

Conclusion

These Festive Christmas Tree Spinach Dip Breadsticks always get attention, and I love how easy they are to make. They combine the comfort of cheesy dip with the fun of pull-apart bread, all dressed up for the season. It’s a simple, creative recipe that makes the holidays feel even more special — and more delicious.
