Grinch Punch a festive and vibrant green holiday punch that’s perfect for Christmas parties! I love how the fruity flavors, fizzy soda, and sweet sherbet come together in one whimsical, crowd-pleasing drink. It's fun, colorful, and so easy to throw together in just a few minutes. Whether I’m hosting a holiday get-together or making something special for the kids, this Grinch Punch always brings smiles.

Grinch Punch

Ingredients

(Tip: You'll find the full list of ingredients and measurements in the recipe card below.)

½ gallon lime sherbet

1 liter lemon-lime soda (like Sprite or 7UP), chilled

1 liter pineapple juice, chilled

1 packet unsweetened lemon-lime Kool-Aid (optional, for extra green color and flavor)

Red sanding sugar or sprinkles (for garnish)

Corn syrup (for rimming glasses)

Maraschino cherries (optional, for decoration)

Directions

In a large punch bowl, I combine the chilled lemon-lime soda and pineapple juice.

If I’m using the Kool-Aid, I stir it in until fully dissolved.

I gently add scoops of lime sherbet to the punch — they float and create that fun, frothy top.

For a decorative touch, I rim glasses with corn syrup and dip them into red sanding sugar or sprinkles.

I ladle the punch into the prepared glasses and sometimes top each one with a maraschino cherry to echo the Grinch’s tiny red heart.

I serve it right away, while it’s cold and fizzy.

Variations

There are so many fun ways I like to mix things up with this recipe:

I swap lime sherbet for rainbow sherbet if I want a colorful twist.

For a slightly tangier taste, I use ginger ale instead of lemon-lime soda.

To make it a grown-up version, I sometimes stir in a splash of coconut rum or vodka (for adult gatherings only).

I’ve also frozen the punch mixture into ice cubes so the drink stays chilled without watering it down.

Storage/Reheating

This punch is best enjoyed fresh because the soda can lose its fizz and the sherbet melts quickly. If I need to prep in advance, I chill the soda and juice separately, and then assemble everything just before serving. Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for a few hours, but the texture won’t be the same. I never recommend reheating this drink — it's meant to be served cold and bubbly.

FAQs

What can I use instead of lime sherbet?

I sometimes use rainbow sherbet or green apple sorbet if I can't find lime sherbet. The green color and fruity flavor still work great with the punch.

Can I make this ahead of time?

I usually don’t recommend making the whole punch ahead, but I do pre-chill the soda and juice. Then I just mix and serve everything fresh for the best fizz and froth.

Is this punch suitable for kids?

Yes, it’s completely non-alcoholic and perfect for kids’ holiday parties or school events. The bright color and sweet taste are always a hit.

How do I keep the punch cold during a party?

I either serve it over ice or float frozen punch cubes made from the soda and juice mixture. That way, it stays cold without getting diluted.

What’s the best way to rim the glasses?

I dip the rim of each glass in a shallow plate of corn syrup, then press it into red sanding sugar or holiday-themed sprinkles. It adds a fun and festive look.

Conclusion

Grinch Punch is one of my favorite holiday drinks to make because it’s so easy, festive, and always makes an impression. I love the vibrant green color, the fizzy texture, and the playful touches like the red sugar rims and cherries. Whether it’s for a classroom party, family gathering, or just a cozy night watching holiday movies, this punch brings a little magic to every sip.
