Healthy Strawberry Cheesecake Protein Balls

Ingredients

(Tip: You'll find the full list of ingredients and measurements in the recipe card below.)

1 cup almond flour

¼ cup vanilla protein powder

2 tablespoons coconut flour

2 tablespoons powdered freeze-dried strawberries

3 tablespoons cream cheese (softened)

3 tablespoons maple syrup or honey

½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Pinch of salt

2–3 tablespoons milk of choice (as needed for texture)

Optional: extra crushed freeze-dried strawberries for rolling

Directions

In a large mixing bowl, I combine the almond flour, protein powder, coconut flour, and powdered freeze-dried strawberries.

I add the softened cream cheese, maple syrup (or honey), vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt.

I mix until a dough forms. If it feels too dry, I add milk one tablespoon at a time until the texture is soft and workable.

I roll the dough into small bite-sized balls, about a tablespoon each.

For extra flavor and a pop of color, I like to roll them in more crushed freeze-dried strawberries.

I place the protein balls on a tray or plate and refrigerate them for at least 30 minutes to firm up.

I keep any extras in an airtight container in the fridge.

Servings and timing

This recipe makes 10 servings.

Total Time: 10 minutes

Calories: Approximately 95 kcal per ball

Variations

I swap the vanilla protein powder for strawberry or unflavored protein to change things up.

I sometimes use Greek yogurt instead of cream cheese for a tangier twist.

If I’m craving a chocolate-strawberry combo, I add mini dark chocolate chips.

For a dairy-free version, I use a plant-based cream cheese alternative.

Storage/Reheating

I store these protein balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. For longer storage, I freeze them in a sealed container for up to a month. I just let them sit at room temperature for 10 minutes before enjoying—no reheating necessary.

FAQs

How much protein is in each ball?

Each ball contains approximately 5–7 grams of protein, depending on the brand of protein powder I use.

Can I make these dairy-free?

Yes, I use a dairy-free cream cheese and plant-based milk to make a completely dairy-free version.

What can I use instead of almond flour?

If I’m avoiding almonds, I use oat flour or cashew flour as a substitute. Just keep in mind the texture might vary slightly.

Are these keto-friendly?

These protein balls are low in carbs, especially if I use a keto-friendly sweetener instead of honey or maple syrup. Double-check your ingredients to stay within keto macros.

Can I make them ahead for meal prep?

Absolutely. I love making a batch at the start of the week. They store well and stay fresh in the fridge, making them a great grab-and-go snack option.

Conclusion

These healthy strawberry cheesecake protein balls prove that clean eating doesn't mean sacrificing flavor. With just a few ingredients and a couple of minutes, I create a batch of satisfying, protein-packed bites that taste like dessert but keep me on track with my goals. They’re a staple in my snack rotation—and once you try them, I’m confident they’ll become one in yours too.
