Description

This Layered Taco Bake is a quick and comforting Tex-Mex casserole made with tortillas, seasoned beef, creamy salsa con queso, and melted cheese. It is perfect for busy weeknights, family dinners, or casual gatherings.


Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

1 packet taco seasoning

3/4 cup water

1/2 cup salsa

3 flour tortillas

2 cups shredded Mexican cheese blend

1/2 cup salsa con queso


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and lightly grease an 8-inch round baking dish.
  2. Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat and drain any excess grease.
  3. Stir in the taco seasoning and water. Simmer until the mixture thickens.
  4. Add the salsa and salsa con queso, stirring until creamy and well combined.
  5. Place one tortilla into the prepared baking dish. Spread part of the beef mixture over the tortilla and top with shredded cheese.
  6. Repeat the layers with the remaining tortillas, beef mixture, and cheese.
  7. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Let the taco bake rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Swap ground beef with ground turkey or shredded chicken for a lighter version.

Add black beans, corn, or diced jalapeños for extra flavor and texture.

Top with sour cream, cilantro, green onions, or avocado before serving.

Use hot salsa and pepper jack cheese for a spicier variation.

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

Freeze individual portions for up to 2 months.
