Description
This Ultimate Shrimp Grilled Cheese with Garlic Bread combines buttery garlic sourdough, juicy shrimp, and layers of gooey melted cheese for a rich and satisfying comfort meal. Perfect for an easy lunch or dinner that feels restaurant-worthy.
Ingredients
4 slices thick sourdough bread
1/2 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
3 tablespoons melted butter
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Salt, to taste
Black pepper, to taste
Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
Instructions
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Season the shrimp with salt and black pepper.
- Add 1 tablespoon of the melted butter and the minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté the shrimp for 3 to 4 minutes until pink and fully cooked. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- Brush one side of each slice of sourdough bread with the remaining melted butter and spread the garlic evenly over the buttered sides.
- Place two slices of bread buttered-side down. Evenly layer the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses on each slice.
- Arrange the cooked shrimp over the cheese, then top with the remaining bread slices, buttered-side facing outward.
- Cook the sandwiches in the skillet over medium heat for 4 to 5 minutes per side, pressing gently, until the bread is golden brown and crispy and the cheese is fully melted.
- Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and serve warm with a fresh salad or crispy chips.
Notes
Substitute mozzarella with provolone, Monterey Jack, white cheddar, Gouda, Swiss, or sharp cheddar.
Add crushed red pepper flakes or sliced jalapeños for extra heat.
Try sautéed spinach, caramelized onions, or sliced tomatoes for added flavor and texture.
Mix garlic powder into the butter for even more garlic flavor.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
Reheat in a skillet or air fryer to restore crispness. Avoid microwaving if possible.
Frozen shrimp can be used if thawed completely and patted dry before cooking.
