Directions

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with non-stick spray.

Variations

Add Veggies: Feel free to add more veggies like mushrooms, bell peppers, or carrots to increase the flavor and texture.

Swap the Cheese: If I’m in the mood for a different flavor, I sometimes swap cheddar cheese with mozzarella or Monterey Jack.

Gluten-Free: Use gluten-free noodles and ensure the cream of chicken soup is gluten-free to make this casserole suitable for those avoiding gluten.

Use Rotisserie Chicken: For an even quicker version, I like to use store-bought rotisserie chicken instead of cooking my own chicken.

Storage/Reheating

Storage: Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days.

Reheating: To reheat, I place the casserole in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 15-20 minutes, until heated through. If you’re in a hurry, I’ve also reheated individual portions in the microwave for about 1-2 minutes.

FAQs

How can I make this casserole ahead of time?

I sometimes prepare this casserole the night before by assembling it, covering it with foil, and refrigerating it. The next day, I bake it as usual.

Can I freeze this chicken noodle casserole?

Yes! I can freeze it after assembling, before baking. Just cover it tightly with plastic wrap or aluminum foil and store it in the freezer for up to 3 months. When ready to bake, I thaw it overnight in the fridge and then bake as directed.

Can I use a different type of pasta?

Absolutely! While I like egg noodles, I’ve made this casserole with elbow macaroni, rotini, and even spaghetti. Just be sure to adjust the cooking time for different pasta types.

How can I make this casserole spicier?

For a little kick, I add a dash of cayenne pepper or some hot sauce to the mixture. I also sometimes include diced green chilies for an added layer of heat.

What can I serve with this casserole?

I like serving it with a side salad or steamed vegetables for a balanced meal. Roasted broccoli or a simple green salad with a tangy vinaigrette pairs wonderfully with this creamy dish.

Conclusion

This Chicken Noodle Casserole is the perfect combination of creamy, cheesy, and comforting. It’s easy to make, feeds a crowd, and is full of flavors everyone in my family will enjoy. Whether I’m serving it on a busy weeknight or for a casual dinner with friends, it’s always a hit. I’m sure it’ll become one of your go-to meals too!
