Description

This quick Cinnamon Roll in a Mug delivers all the warm, sweet flavors of a classic cinnamon roll in a single serving. Soft dough, a rich cinnamon-sugar swirl, and a simple glaze come together in minutes.


Ingredients

1 1/2 tablespoons salted butter, melted

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

2 tablespoons granulated sugar

3 tablespoons milk

1/2 teaspoon vanilla

1 tablespoon butter

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1/3 cup confectioners' sugar

1 tablespoon milk or heavy cream


Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, granulated sugar, milk, vanilla, and melted butter until a soft dough forms.
  2. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and gently flatten it into a rectangle.
  3. In a separate bowl, melt the butter and stir in the brown sugar and cinnamon until smooth.
  4. Spread the cinnamon mixture evenly over the dough.
  5. Roll the dough tightly into a cinnamon roll shape.
  6. Lightly grease a microwave-safe mug and place the rolled dough inside.
  7. Microwave for about 90 seconds. Add additional 10-second intervals if needed until the center is cooked through.
  8. While the roll cooks, whisk together the confectioners' sugar and milk or cream until smooth.
  9. Pour the glaze over the warm cinnamon roll and serve immediately.

Notes

For a chocolate chip version, sprinkle chocolate chips over the filling before rolling.

Add softened cream cheese to the glaze for a richer topping.

Substitute part of the glaze liquid with maple syrup for a maple flavor.

Add chopped pecans or walnuts to the filling for crunch.

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.

Reheat in the microwave for 10 to 15 seconds before serving.
