Description

Golden, fluffy, and lightly sweet, Grandma’s Waffles are a cozy breakfast favorite made with simple pantry ingredients. These waffles are soft inside, lightly crisp outside, and delicious with syrup, fruit, or powdered sugar.

Ingredients

2 cups flour

3/4 cup sugar

3 eggs

2/3 cup milk

1/2 cup butter, melted

1 tsp baking powder

1 tsp vanilla sugar or 1 tsp vanilla extract

Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Whisk the eggs and sugar together in a large bowl until light and slightly fluffy.
  2. Add the milk, melted butter, and vanilla. Mix until combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until smooth.
  5. Preheat the waffle iron and lightly grease it.
  6. Pour the batter into the waffle iron and cook for 3 to 5 minutes, or until golden brown.
  7. Serve warm with syrup, fruit, butter, powdered sugar, or your favorite toppings.

Notes

Add chocolate chips, blueberries, or cinnamon for extra flavor.

Serve with whipped cream, caramel sauce, fresh berries, or chopped nuts.

Store leftover waffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Freeze cooled waffles in a freezer-safe bag and reheat directly from frozen.

For crispier waffles, fully preheat the waffle iron and avoid stacking waffles while hot.
