Description

Honey Butter Toast is rich, golden, and wonderfully comforting with crisp caramelized edges and a soft custardy center. Thick slices of bread are coated in a sweet honey butter mixture and baked until perfectly golden.

Ingredients

4 thick slices white bread, preferably milk bread or brioche

4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

3 tablespoons honey

2 tablespoons granulated sugar

1 tablespoon sweetened condensed milk

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, honey, sugar, condensed milk, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.
  3. Place the bread slices on the prepared baking sheet and spread the honey butter mixture generously over each slice.
  4. Lightly score the tops in a crisscross pattern without cutting all the way through the bread.
  5. Bake for 12–15 minutes until the edges are golden and the tops are caramelized.
  6. For extra crispiness, broil for 1–2 minutes at the end while watching carefully.
  7. Let the toast cool slightly and serve warm.

Notes

Brioche creates a richer flavor while milk bread gives a softer texture.

Add cinnamon, lemon zest, or sliced almonds for extra flavor.

Serve with vanilla ice cream or fresh berries for a dessert-style version.

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.

Reheat in the oven or air fryer to restore crispiness and avoid microwaving.
