Description
Honey Butter Toast is rich, golden, and wonderfully comforting with crisp caramelized edges and a soft custardy center. Thick slices of bread are coated in a sweet honey butter mixture and baked until perfectly golden.
Ingredients
4 thick slices white bread, preferably milk bread or brioche
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
3 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 tablespoon sweetened condensed milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, honey, sugar, condensed milk, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.
- Place the bread slices on the prepared baking sheet and spread the honey butter mixture generously over each slice.
- Lightly score the tops in a crisscross pattern without cutting all the way through the bread.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes until the edges are golden and the tops are caramelized.
- For extra crispiness, broil for 1–2 minutes at the end while watching carefully.
- Let the toast cool slightly and serve warm.
Notes
Brioche creates a richer flavor while milk bread gives a softer texture.
Add cinnamon, lemon zest, or sliced almonds for extra flavor.
Serve with vanilla ice cream or fresh berries for a dessert-style version.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
Reheat in the oven or air fryer to restore crispiness and avoid microwaving.
