These Soft & Chewy Nestle Toll House Cookie Bars are rich, buttery, and packed with chocolate chips. I love this recipe because I get classic chocolate chip cookie flavor in an easy bar form, without scooping or baking multiple trays.

Soft & Chewy Nestle Toll House Cookie Bars

Ingredients

(Tip: You'll find the full list of ingredients and measurements in the recipe card below.)

2 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

¾ cup granulated sugar

¾ cup packed brown sugar

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

2 large eggs, room temperature

2 cups Nestlé Toll House semi-sweet chocolate morsels, divided

1 cup chopped nuts, optional

Directions

I preheat the oven to 375°F and grease a 13x10-inch jelly roll pan.

In a small bowl, I combine the flour, baking soda, and salt.

In a large bowl, I beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla until creamy.

I add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

Next, I mix in the flour mixture just until combined.

I stir in 1 ⅔ cups chocolate morsels and the chopped nuts if I am using them.

I press the dough evenly into the prepared pan, then sprinkle the remaining ⅓ cup chocolate morsels on top.

I bake the bars for 15 to 20 minutes, or until golden brown.

I let them cool in the pan on a wire rack before cutting them into bars.

Servings and Timing

This recipe makes 24 servings.

Prep time: 10 minutes

Cooking time: 20 minutes

Total time: 30 minutes

Calories: about 290 kcal per serving

Variations

I sometimes swap the semi-sweet chocolate morsels for milk chocolate, dark chocolate, or white chocolate chips.

For extra texture, I add chopped walnuts, pecans, or even shredded coconut.

I can also sprinkle a little flaky salt on top before baking for a sweet and salty flavor.

Storage/Reheating

I store these cookie bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days.

For longer storage, I freeze the bars in a freezer-safe container for up to 2 months.

To reheat, I warm a bar in the microwave for about 10 seconds so the chocolate softens again.

FAQs

Can I make these cookie bars without nuts?

Yes, I can leave out the nuts completely. The bars will still be soft, chewy, and full of chocolate.

Can I use a different pan?

I can use a similar-sized baking pan, but the baking time may change if the bars are thicker or thinner.

How do I know when the cookie bars are done?

I look for golden edges and a lightly set center. I avoid overbaking so the bars stay chewy.

Can I freeze Nestle Toll House cookie bars?

Yes, I freeze them after they cool completely. I like to separate layers with parchment paper.

Can I use salted butter?

Yes, I can use salted butter, but I usually reduce the added salt slightly.

Conclusion

These Soft & Chewy Nestle Toll House Cookie Bars are an easy, classic dessert that I can make in one pan. I love how they deliver all the flavor of chocolate chip cookies with less work and plenty of soft, chewy texture.
