The combination of tangy lemonade and rich vanilla ice cream creates a smooth frozen drink that tastes just like the popular fast-food version. It only takes a few minutes to blend together, making it perfect for warm afternoons, family gatherings, or a quick sweet treat.

Ingredients

(Tip: You'll find the full list of ingredients and measurements in the recipe card below.)

2 cups vanilla ice cream

1 cup prepared lemonade, chilled

1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

1 teaspoon lemon zest

2 tablespoons powdered sugar

Directions

I add the vanilla ice cream, chilled lemonade, fresh lemon juice, lemon zest, and powdered sugar into a blender.

I blend everything until smooth and creamy, scraping down the sides of the blender if needed.

I taste the mixture and add a little more powdered sugar if I want it sweeter.

I pour the frosted lemonade into chilled glasses and serve immediately.

Variations

I sometimes swap vanilla ice cream for frozen yogurt when I want a lighter version.

I like adding fresh strawberries or raspberries for a fruity twist.

I occasionally use homemade lemonade for an even fresher flavor.

I enjoy topping the drink with whipped cream and extra lemon zest for a dessert-style presentation.

I sometimes add a few ice cubes when I want a thicker frozen texture.

Storage/Reheating

I find this drink tastes best immediately after blending because the texture stays thick and creamy. If I need to store leftovers, I keep them in the freezer for up to 1 hour and stir well before serving again. I do not recommend reheating this recipe since it is meant to be served frozen and refreshing.

FAQs

Can I use bottled lemonade?

I can absolutely use bottled lemonade for convenience, although freshly prepared lemonade gives the drink a brighter and fresher taste.

Can I make this recipe dairy-free?

I can make a dairy-free version by using non-dairy vanilla ice cream made from almond, oat, or coconut milk.

How do I make the drink thicker?

I usually add extra ice cream or a few ice cubes to create a thicker and frostier consistency.

Can I prepare this ahead of time?

I prefer making it fresh, but I can blend it slightly ahead and keep it in the freezer for a short time before serving.

What type of ice cream works best?

I find classic vanilla ice cream works best because it creates the creamy texture and balanced flavor that tastes closest to the original drink.

Conclusion

I love how easy and refreshing this Copycat Chick-fil-A Frosted Lemonade is to make at home. The creamy texture combined with the bright citrus flavor creates a delicious frozen drink that is perfect for hot days or whenever I want a quick sweet treat. With only a few ingredients and a blender, I can enjoy this homemade version anytime.
