This Honey Pineapple Salmon is a vibrant and delicious dish glazed with a sweet honey and tangy pineapple sauce. It feels tropical and fresh, making it a perfect quick weeknight dinner that’s both satisfying and impressive.

Honey Pineapple Salmon

Ingredients

(Tip: You'll find the full list of ingredients and measurements in the recipe card below.)

4 salmon fillets (about 6 oz each)

1 cup fresh pineapple chunks (or canned, drained)

3 tablespoons honey

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon lime juice

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger

1 tablespoon olive oil

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh cilantro or green onions, for garnish (optional)

Directions

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

In a blender or food processor, combine the pineapple chunks, honey, soy sauce, lime juice, garlic, and ginger. Blend until smooth to create the glaze.

Season the salmon fillets with salt and pepper on both sides.

Heat olive oil in an oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the salmon fillets for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown.

Pour the pineapple honey glaze over the salmon in the skillet.

Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.

Garnish with fresh cilantro or green onions if desired. Serve immediately with rice or steamed vegetables.

Servings and timing

This recipe serves 4 people. Prep time is about 10 minutes, cooking takes roughly 15 minutes, for a total of 25 minutes from start to finish.

Variations

I sometimes like to switch up the flavors a bit by adding a pinch of chili flakes or sriracha to the glaze if I want a little heat. Another variation is swapping lime juice for lemon juice for a slightly different citrus note. If I’m feeling adventurous, I also add diced bell peppers or snap peas to the skillet before baking for extra crunch and color.

Storage/reheating

I store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. When reheating, I prefer gently warming the salmon in the oven or microwave to avoid drying it out. Adding a splash of water or extra glaze before reheating helps keep the salmon moist and flavorful.

FAQs

Can I use frozen salmon for this recipe?

Yes, I usually thaw frozen salmon completely before cooking to ensure even cooking and the best texture.

Can I make the pineapple glaze ahead of time?

Absolutely! The glaze can be made a day ahead and stored in the fridge. Just give it a quick stir before using.

What can I serve with this salmon?

I like serving it with steamed rice, quinoa, or roasted vegetables for a balanced meal.

Is canned pineapple okay to use?

Yes, canned pineapple works fine as long as it’s well drained to avoid a watery glaze.

Can I cook this on the grill instead of the oven?

You can! I recommend searing the salmon on the grill and then brushing on the glaze during the last few minutes to caramelize it without burning.

Conclusion

Honey Pineapple Salmon is one of my favorite quick dinners because it brings bright, tropical flavors to a healthy fish dish with minimal effort. Whether I’m cooking for family or just treating myself, this recipe always hits the spot and makes weeknight dinners feel a little more special.
